The 6.5 magnitude earthquake ratted Idaho with shaking felt across the region including Washington State, Utah, Nevada, and Canada. The epicenter was located 78 miles northeast of Boise.
COVID-19 Update: City Park Closures
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Palm Beach County has issued an Emergency Order requiring all parks and golf courses to be CLOSED to public access, effective immediately.
The Sandhill Crane Golf Club AND all City parks, including the skate park and dog park, are closed at this time. Law enforcement personnel are authorized and directed to enforce this directive. The Dancing Crane restaurant located at the golf club remains open for curbside pick up only
For Immediate Release March 19, 2020 Contact: Beth Frady Beth.Frady@dot.state.fl.us Florida Department of Transportation’s Turnpike Enterprise Will Process All Vehicles Electronically Through Toll-By-Plate ~ Temporarily, cash payments not accepted ~ Tallahassee, Fla. – To help reduce the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and to help keep toll collectors safe, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) will temporarily not accept cash as a form of payment for tolls. Tolls will still be required, but they will be collected through an electronic process. The change will take place starting at noon today. As part of this initiative, customers should continue driving through the toll plaza and pay attention to overhead and portable signs. In addition, the following items will apply: - SunPass and interoperable customers will continue to have tolls posted to their accounts. o Vehicles without a SunPass will be billed for toll transactions at the posted cash toll rate and receive a Toll Enforcement Invoice in the mail. The invoice administrative fee ($2.50) will temporarily be waived. o Drivers who elect to become a SunPass customer will receive several benefits including a discount on tolls of nearly 25%. SunPass works on all Florida toll roads and most bridges. Customers will still be able to utilize the “Exact Coin Lanes” where there is no toll operator present to remit coin payment at those locations. Additionally, customers who receive a Toll Enforcement Invoice and wish to open a SunPass account can go online at www.SunPass.com to pay the invoice, purchase a transponder, establish the account and receive the lower SunPass toll rate. The cost of a mini transponder ($4.99) will be credited back to the account, effectively making the transponder free. The White House announced the following recommendations for all Americans over the next 15 days:
A Town-wide Curfew from 9:00 PM - 6:00 AM daily, goes into effect on 3/17/20.
Washing your hands, avoiding unnecessary travel and being cognizant of symptoms are some of the most effective ways to ward off potential contraction of the coronavirus. But there is still more that you can be doing, according to Dr. Oz.
Dr. Oz released a “coronavirus survival protocol,” a helpful tip sheet on how people can stay healthy. Apart from the information you’ve likely already seen about the benefit of face masks or throwing away used tissues, the fact sheet provides immunity, dietary, household preparation and other tips that can be beneficial in the midst of this outbreak.
Orlando's Disney World, Sea World, Disneyland Paris and Disney Cruise lines will shut down temporarily in the wake of growing concerns over the global coronavirus pandemic. The Universal Orlando Resort announced its theme park closure Thursday as well.
Sea World was the latest to announce their closure by providing an update on Twitter Friday. The theme park said it would be closing from March 16 until the end of the month.
"During this time, essential personnel, including animal care experts, will continue to look after the health, safety and nutritional needs of the animals in our care," the statement read. "Our animal rescue and rehabilitation operations will also continue to operate."
Sea World also noted they would be paying their full-time "ambassadors" while the park is closed.
The Walt Disney Company announced the shutdown Thursday with a statement, hours after announcing the closure of Disneyland.
